Blade Reboot

According to reports, the upcoming Marvel reboot of Blade will be darker than anything else in the MCU. With the intention of creating something far gloomier and more horrific than the rest of the immensely popular series, Blade will be directed by Yann Demange and written by Michael Starrbury.

You’re in for some bad news, Marvel fans: the Blade reboot has been delayed. Having lost its director, Mahershala Ali’s vampire movie is looking for a new one. Originally slated to release on 3rd November 2023, the film will now be released in 2024. Delroy Lindo will join Ali as the human-vampire hybrid, but his role has not been revealed. Aaron Pierre, star of The Underground Railroad, has also signed on. Deadline previously reported that Pierre has signed on for an important role in the film.

In 1973, Blade was created as a supporting character in Marvel’s comic universe, and he was portrayed by Wesley Snipes on the silver screen. Blade’s backstory – a half-vampire named Eric Brooks determined to exterminate all bloodsuckers using his skills and supernatural abilities – will make for a very different entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Mahershala Ali has been cast in the lead role of Blade, the half-vampire daywalker who hunts down creatures of the night in the Marvel universe. In addition to playing Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes in Netflix’s Marvel series Luke Cage and in Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse, Ali has a strong superhero pedigree, and it appears he played a key role in getting Blade made. Upon winning his Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Green Book, Ali contacted Marvel boss Kevin Feige to arrange a meeting and pitched the idea of a Blade movie starring him.

There have been reports circulating for some time that 14-year-old actress Milan Ray, best known for her roles in The Wonder Years and Modern Love, has been cast in the Marvel movie, with many speculating that she will play Fallon Grey, a character who will play a major role in the MCU going forward.
