This stunning fan poster summarizes what is known about Sam Raimi’s canceled Spider-Man 4, following the return of Tobey Maguire.

Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi’s canceled Spider-Man 4 movie gets a new fan poster that brings back familiar elements. Sony canceled Spider-Man 4 and effectively ended this version of the franchise with Raimi and Maguire’s Spider-Man 3. Maguire’s return as Spider-Man: No Way Home in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has revived the demand for the actor to lead his own standalone Spider-Man 4. As you can see, this fan art makes a convincing argument for the possibility of it happening.

As details from Sony’s canceled Spider-Man 4 have emerged over the years, the artist has combined them all. In addition to Maguire, the poster features Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane Watson, Bruce Campbell’s Mysterio, Anne Hathaway’s Black Cat, John Malkovich’s Vulture, and Angelina Jolie as his daughter.

Could Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 4 Ever Happen?

As Spider-Man’s sole lead in a movie, Maguire was last seen in 2007’s Spider-Man 3, which for quite some time seemed to be his last. He and Andrew Garfield – from The Amazing Spider-Man films – both returned in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. After The Amazing Spider-Man 3 premiered to critical and fan acclaim, Garfield has been asked to return, while McGuire would reprise his ill-fated Spider-Man 4.

Since Sony’s planned Spider-Man 4 with Maguire and Raimi was shelved, many elements and characters have become well-known. Among the details is a look at the villain’s Vulture and Mysterio, who would have played a significant role in the sequel. Interestingly, both villains were adapted into Tom Holland’s MCU-based Spider-Man trilogy, which means Raimi’s original Spider-Man 4 plan would probably need to be reworked, so it is not very similar to the current MCU Spider-Man series.

Sony’s Spider-Man 4 is closer to happening than it has been in over a decade. Raimi recently returned to the superhero genre with Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He now has a direct line to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, should he want to figure out how he can make Spider-Man 4 without stepping on the toes of the MCU. According to Maguire, he enjoyed returning to the role of Peter Parker and would gladly do so again.
