The Next James Bond, is the question everyone wants the answer to. Following the release of No Time to Die, Daniel Craig bid a farewell to James Bond. It is one of the highest-profile roles on the planet, and many A-Listers have been rumored to take over from Craig. Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati stated: “No fewer than seven Hollywood stars are in with a genuine chance of getting the role and becoming the next James Bond.” Below we give you our top 7 picks for who should be The Next James Bond.

Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy is everyone’s favorite, but there’s a reason why the British actor is currently the number one choice to replace Daniel Craig. In addition to his acting skills in films like The Dark Knight Rises and Mad Max: Fury Road, he has also shown a physical transformation throughout his career that would lend itself to a Bond role.

However, his age may be an issue. Tom is getting close to 50 years old, and the franchise may want to go in a younger direction.

Cillian Murphy

As a jack of all trades, Cillian Murphy plays everything from the dramatic lead in Peaky Blinders to the member of a horror ensemble in A Quiet Place Part 2, as well as experience many actors would be proud of.

Murphy has the action acting ability, good looks, style, swagger, and just about everything else that’s associated with the James Bond role.

Henry Cavill

Henry Cavill is another household name. Those who have seen Henry Cavill in The Man from UNCLE will know that Superman will have no problem dressing up. He has the looks, and charm, and is easily adaptable to the role. Henry Cavill was even considered for the role in 2005 when he was a much younger man, but lost out to Daniel Craig .

His schedule will be seriously disrupted by the upcoming third season of Netflix’s The Witcher series.

Tom Hiddleston

While Tom Hiddleston may lack the physical presence of Hardy or Cavill, you only need to watch him in the BBC miniseries The Night Manager to see why he might make the perfect Bond.

It’s true that he looks good in a suit and, yes, he seems to ooze charisma among female leads, but he’s also got a believably silver tongue and looks just as at home striding the halls of MI6 as he would in some far-flung Mediterranean locale.

Idris Elba

He is one of the coolest actors of all time and has long been linked to the Bond role. For that reason alone, he should be Bond. When you look at Elba’s body of work, from The Wire to Beasts of No Nation to so many more, his talents can be seen across big-budget blockbusters as well as small-scale crime dramas.

He is also entering his fifties, like Hardy, which could work against him. And in previous interviews, he’s stated that despite rumors, he’s happy with his lot. “I’ve always been chased by the Bond rumours,” he said. “You’ll get it one day, my poor mother keeps telling me!” So I was like, ‘Mom, I’m good, I’ve got Luther!’ I’m definitely going to do that.”

Dev Patel

This is a bit of a wild card but listen to us. His relatively short career and age give him an advantage, but it’s his consistently better performances that make him stand out. Patel is one of Hollywood’s leading lights after The Green Knight, while stints in The Newsroom and The Personal History of David Copperfield show a more restrained side that’s often requested for Bond roles.

In a conversation with Total Film, Patel expressed faint bemusement at being associated with Bond, but was delighted to be included in the conversation. “I don’t know why that is,” he replied. “I suppose that I should take it as a compliment. But shouldn’t every young British actor be associated with Bond at some point?”

Rege-Jean Page

Rege-Jean Page’s role as the Duke of Hastings in Netflix’s Bridgerton has propelled him to the top of many people’s next James Bond lists, establishing him as a charming favourite – and the most likely to leave audiences feeling a little hot under the collar. Pierce Brosnan, a former Bond, told Entertainment Tonight that Page would be a “wonderful” replacement for James Bond.

No matter what happens with Bond, Page is working on another spy project. Interestingly, it’s a reboot of The Saint, the show that put Roger Moore on the map before he became part of the Bond franchise.
