As a result of Tobey Maguire‘s triumphant return in No Way Home, Sam Raimi Spider-Man 4 seems more likely than ever.
Several actors have expressed interest in reprising their roles in Spider-Man 4, increasing the likelihood of another Sam Raimi movie. Spider-Man: No Way Home marked McGuire’s long-awaited return as Peter Parker, making his three films part of the MCU‘s multiverse. In light of the general interest in seeing Maguire return and the Raimi universe’s renewed popularity, a fourth Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie seems more likely than ever.
In Spider-Man No Way Home The Official Movie Special, Tobey Maguire mentions the possibility of playing Spider-Man again, unprompted, he clearly expresses enthusiasm to play the role again. Bringing back Sony’s original cinematic Spider-Man iteration would be a sure crowd-pleaser with the Sam Raimi Spider-Man universe (Earth-96283) now part of the broader MCU. Despite Sam Raimi’s plans for Spider-Man 4, Marvel’s MC2 comics and the Raimi universe’s spinoff material offer even more exciting ideas for Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man story.

By reviving the bygone Spider-Man franchises and legitimizing them as part of the MCU, Spider-Man 4 seems more plausible than ever. A Spider-Man 4 is not only more probable but also more likely due to Tobey Maguire‘s enthusiasm. Despite the demand for more Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, it would not work without Tobey Maguire himself returning to the role. Sam Raimi did return to Marvel movie adaptations with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The best inspiration for a Spider-Man 4 would be Tom DeFalco’s Spider-Man and Spider-Girl comics from the 90s and early 2000s, since Tobey Maguire plays the oldest and most experienced live-action Spider-Man variant. Mayday Parker should be introduced as Peter and Mary Jane’s daughter in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man universe. When developing a new antagonist for Maguire’s veteran Spider-Man, the film should look to the Raimi universe’s spinoff materials, particularly its video games. A new version of the Hobgoblin could even appear in Spider-Man 4, fulfilling an easter egg from Spider-Man 3.
Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man stories are in high demand following No Way Home. Despite the possibility of Maguire and Garfield reappearing as Spider-Man Avengers: Secret Wars, I think it would be best if they continued to develop as individuals. If Tobey Maguire is enthusiastic about playing Spider-Man again, Sony should take advantage of that and bring him back, along with Kirsten Dunst and Sam Raimi, to make a fourth Spider-Man film.
