Demolition Man is almost certainly Sylvester Stallone‘s most underrated movie. One of Wesley Snipes‘ best villain roles was in this 1993 film, which also starred Sandra Bullock before she became famous. It’s only natural that someone realized how great the original was and decided to make a sequel.
The sequel to Demolition Man is being developed at Warner Bros. Pictures. During a live Instagram Q&A, Sylvester Stallone confirmed the news. Here’s what Stallone said:
“I think there is. We’re working on it right now with Warner Bros. and it’s looking fantastic. So that should come out, that’s going to happen.”
There is no doubt that Sylvester Stallone will return as John Spartan. Due to his age (73), it’s hard to predict how big a role he’ll play. Wesley Snipes will also return for Demolition Man 2. At the end of the first movie, his Phoenix character was frozen and smashed into pieces. It’s a mystery how they would bring him back.Due to the fact that the movie is set in the future, it’s likely to involve a sci-fi device like time travel or cloning.
Sandra Bullock has not yet announced whether she will return. In recent years, she has not been particularly active in movies, despite being 55. The last movie she acted in was The Lost City, which was released in 2022.
Rumor has it that the new movie will jump forward in time. The original took place in 2032, but the new one will take place in 2058. Stallone is now 24 years older than when the first Demolition Man film debuted 24 years ago. It is likely that John Spartan has been living in the future all this time and aging.
Apparently, they’ll use cloning to resurrect Wesley Snipes as Phoenix. The plot involves cloning him and bringing him back to life as a tool to reset the world to its former state, when most people lacked free will.
Demolition Man 2 is not expected to feature Snipes as the main villain. This is only part of the plan of the main villain. Artificial Intelligence will be the real enemy, pulling strings behind the scenes to control humanity.
