I Am Legend 2 what we know so far

Several months have passed since Will Smith slapped presenter Chris Rock across the face at the 94th Academy Awards for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. 

After barely appearing in public since the event, Smith is planning a sequel to his beloved sci-fi movie, I Am Legend. The well-known blockbuster follows Robert Neville as he searches for a cure to a plague that kills off the majority of humanity in New York City.

In the sequel, the actor will team up with Creed and Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan, with the pair also serving as producers.  The Sun reports that Smith remains attached to the sequel project despite the Oscar ceremony of 2022, adding that Warner Brothers has yet to approve the concept.

It has been reported that a script is being written for his character, but Will is still attached to the project as of yet…Will will make a comeback at some point, but it will simply come down to which studio will take a chance on him.  Earlier this year, the director of the original film discussed his potential involvement.

Lawrence told ComicBook that, while there haven’t been any official talks about returning to the film, he’s spoken with writer Akiva Goldsman, who will return for the sequel, and he’d love to direct it if given the chance.

“I have spoken with Akiva [Goldsman] a little bit about it, but I think it’s still a ways off. Lawrence said, “I would love to do it.”. “I’ve heard some good things about I Am Legend. Actually, we’re just brainstorming Constantine ideas, but I’m sworn to secrecy on I Am Legend.”

No director has been tapped to take on the sequel project since the announcement, leaving it up in the air who will take the reins. Although Lawrence seems interested in directing the sequel, it remains to be seen who is ultimately chosen.
