Following her recent health scare, Kate Beckinsale blasted critics for calling her too thin. As trolls bombarded her Instagram comments section with comments about her upcoming 1990s-based film, “Stolen Girl,” the actress stood up for herself. While goofing around in her trailer, Beckinsale wore a number of retro-styled outfits and hairstyles.

According to Beckinsale, 50, her on-set experience was like a “redo” of the ’90s, when she wore her brother’s pajamas and lived in her Dr. Martens. While the “Underworld” star seemed thrilled to be back at work after her weeks-long hospital stay, haters quickly gave their opinion about her appearance.

“Sorry to say this Kate, but you do look a bit thin,” one person wrote. “You always striked a great balance … But when your cheekbones start to show, the balance is lost … 😢 😢.”
In response to the critic, Beckinsale wrote, “I nursed my [stepdad] to death early this year. There is also stuff going on with my mum. The loss of two fathers, one when I was five and the other in January of this year, has been difficult for me to adjust to. The “Vacancy” star lost her stepfather Roy Battersby in January after a brief illness. In addition, when she was a child, she discovered the body of her father Richard Beckinsale who had died of a heart attack.

“I lost my soulmate cat of almost 19 years, also last year,” she continued. “I spent six weeks in hospital due to copiously vomiting blood from a [Mallory-Weiss tear] caused by the stress of a whole year ripping a hole between my [esophagus] and stomach.”
Additionally, Kate explained she had a severe flare-up of mast cell disease, which she attributed to stress, shock, and grief. According to her, “That’s what has contributed to some weight loss. I don’t care what you think about my appearance or how I should look, regardless of any circumstances in my life or my family’s.
“I am trying to survive what feel like unbearable losses, reactivated PTSD from discovering my very young father’s almost dead body as a very young child alone in the night, and working to support the family I have left.”
