This new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, which was released on Monday, reveals Mads Mikkelsen as the wizarding villain Grindelwald. It is Mikkelsen that takes over from troubled Johnny Depp in this prequel to J.K. Rowling’s series of Harry Potter stories.
In addition to Katherine Waterston, Jude Law, Ezra Miller and Eddie Redmayne, the movie also stars Jude Law. April 15 marks the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in theaters. If you want to see the trailer, you can find it below.
The film is the third installment in the Fantastic Beasts spinoff franchise, following 2016’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which starred Colin Farrell as Grindelwald, and 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, in which Johnny Depp took on the role. Because of Depp’s personal issues, Warner Bros had to recast the role.
In order to get you in the mood, Warner Bros released a teaser video filled with cues from the Harry Potter series, culminating in a snippet from Fantastic Beasts 3 starring Mikkelsen as Grindelwald.
As part of Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, the original cast of the Potter movies will reunite for an HBO special. A number of celebrities will appear in the show on New Year’s Day, including Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.
