A live-action remake of the classic 2001 animated film Atlantis: The Lost Empire has fans buzzing! Zendaya and Tom Hollandare fan favorites.
The Walt Disney Company has spent the last year remaking successful animated films into live-action features. Most of these films have been successful, with only a few complaints when Disney alters the story or song The Lion King springs to mind. Since Disney began doing remakes in 2001, fans have been eager to see Atlantis: The Lost Empire on the big screen again. Tom Holland and Zendaya are believed to be the perfect match for the lead romantic duo.
In Atlantis, Milo Thatch is an awkward and clumsy historian who dreams of finding Atlantis but ends up discovering more than he expected. Princess Kidagakash is Atlantis’s feisty and confident heir, willing to do whatever it takes for the sake of her people. There is a lot of similarity between the personalities of both actors’ characters. There is a lot of fan art depicting them as Milo and Kida, so it’s not difficult to imagine them bringing the characters to life.
Hollywood’s power couple is incredibly talented and excels at working together. Fans wanted them to get together because of their chemistry as Peter Parker and MJ. Their individual talents make them two of the most sought-after actors. Given how talented both of them are, it’s difficult to get away from them (which is not necessarily a bad thing). The characters in Disney movies are usually brought to life by top-performing actors; just look at Emma Watson as Belle in Beauty and the Beast. Both of them have the talent to bring the best Disney couple to life in a memorable way, so they would definitely be one of Disney’s best options.
It is unfortunate that Disney forgot about Atlantis: The Lost Empire after a few years of making Disney princesses. In honor of the movie’s 20th anniversary, the studio commemorated it. Kirk Wise, the original director of Atlantis, spoke to MovieWeb about rumors about a live-action remake of the film.
He said he hasn’t heard anything else about the live-action adaptation, and he has only heard about it on the internet. In addition, Gary Trousdale, his co-director, added that the film would not be remade. No matter how much Atlantis fans wish for it, a live-action adaptation of the beloved film may never materialize.
