A Creed IV film is in the works, according to Michael B. Jordan. Upon the release of Creed III, Jordan spoke to IGN and confirmed that a fourth film would happen “for sure” adding “It is also possible to see more Creed spinoffs in the future”.
As Creed 4 is still in its early stages of development, there are a few things everyone should know. Despite being a mixed success, the Creed trilogy is a celebrated spinoff of the legendary Rocky franchise. Sylvester Stallone earned an Academy Award nomination for Creed (2015), and the series’ creator won a Golden Globe for Best Actor. Although Creed II (2018) did not garner as many awards as Creed III (2023), it still achieved an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. In addition to being critically successful, all Creed films have also become blockbuster hits.
In the Creed films, Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis “Donnie” Creed (Michael B. Jordan), takes center stage. Rocky trains Donnie the same way he was trained and helps him reach the top of the boxing world. In addition to following many of the same beats as the Rocky films, the rest of the trilogy adds original elements and personal themes that make these movies unique. The Creed movie franchise has the potential to go on for a long time (especially if Donnie can fight and Jordan remains interested), with Creed 4 being the next installment.

Creed III came out in March 2023, so there are natural rumblings about what’s next for three big Hollywood names: Jordan, Jonathan Majors, who plays the Creed III antagonist Damian “Dame” Anderson, and Creed director and Creed III producer Ryan Coogler. Jordan’s interest in pursuing Creed 4 is the clearest sign that a new installment of the boxing franchise could take place since he starred in and directed the most recent installment. The only detail Jordan provided was that he was interested in expanding the Creed universe.
It seems no studio announcements have been forthcoming despite Jordan’s interest in Creed 4. Perhaps they are waiting for several behind-the-scenes issues to be resolved. According to TheThings, Sylvester Stallone argued with the studio about ownership and the direction the franchise was taking, and so far, the dispute has not been resolved. It is possible that a fourth movie could still be developed even without Stallone’s input, since he isn’t in Creed III.

Creed III does not feature any mid-credits scenes, but the final scene suggests what could happen next. The night after Donnie defeated Dame, he joined Bianca and his nine-year-old daughter, Amara, in the ring. In the final sequence, Donnie pretends to box with his daughter. Creed 4 and the next Creed movies might explore Amara and Donnie’s relationship (being a father and a trainer at the same time).
As of yet, no release date has been announced for Creed 4. Audiences may be able to determine when the next installment will be released based on the time between previous releases. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Creed III was delayed a number of times until it was finally released over five years after Creed II. As a result of more precautionary safety measures taken by the film industry, the fourth movie is unlikely to be released for at least three years (depending on interest among the cast). We’ll keep you informed as more information become available.
