The voice cast is as follows:

  • Chris Pratt as Mario

  • “Queen’s Gambit” star Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach

  • Charlie Day as Luigi

  • Jack Black as Bowser

  • Keegan-Michael Key as Toad

  • Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong

  • Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong

  • Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek

  • Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike

Later, Chris Pratt posted a video on his Instagram describing the announcement as a “dream come true,” adding that he played Super Mario at a nearby arcade as a child.

At the moment, it is me, Mario, Pratt said.

During the Nintendo direct event, Nintendo CEO Shigeru Miyamoto said, “We are collaborating with Chris and his team to bring ‘Super Mario Bros.’ to life on the screen, allowing anyone to enjoy it regardless of their knowledge of the game.”

Is this news big enough to draw Nintendo out of its “Shell” and participate in this attempt to make a decent video game movie? It remains to be seen!
