Thor 5 according to our sources will be Chris Hemsworths last outing as the god of thunder. In MCU Phase 4, Thor had another rock ‘n roll adventure in Thor: Love and Thunder, directed by Taika Waititi. The next question is: what happens next? (Warning there may be spoilers ahead).
During Thor’s fourth headline action movie in the MCU, he faced one of his most fearsome opponents yet, Gorr (Christian Bale). He is luckily not alone, since Natalie Portman plays The Mighty Thor and Tessa Thompson plays Valkyrie. As a result of their victory, Thor’s daughter, Love, is now in the care of the antagonist. But there is trouble ahead, as you will see below.
Waititi and Hemsworth’s collaboration on Thor 5 is likely to bring another loud, vibrant chapter to the series. The two have reinvented Odinson into one of the best heroes in the franchise, and there are no signs of them stopping. Could we see more from Asgard in the future? Who will be in Thor 5? Let’s explore everything there is to know about this hypothetical Marvel movie.
We don’t know when Thor 5 will be released because it hasn’t been announced yet. In the event that a fifth Thor film is made, it may not arrive until 2026 or later at the earliest. Marvel has set release dates through 2023, with a half-dozen productions requiring dates beyond that.
Chris Hemsworth has said he’s open to doing more, but only if a unique story is presented. “I’d like to exit before people tell me to exit,” he told Total Film. It will be interesting to see how things turn out. The actor did, however, tell Vanity Fair in November 2022 that he believes his next outing as Thor should be his last. In addition, Hemsworth has disclosed health issues that could affect his desire to continue in the role.
Thor 5 does not have a plot synopsis yet, but Love and Thunder gave us some clues. Thor is now a stepfather to Gorr’s daughter, Love. The dynamic duo saves people around the universe who are being invaded or oppressed.
Asgard’s king, Valkyrie, continues to train the children for war in case they are kidnapped by others. Asgard will likely see Sif play a role in whatever comes next for the franchise. In addition, Hercules was introduced in the post-credits scene for Thor: Love and Thunder. Since Thor stabbed a hole in his father’s chest, he is out for blood. Thor might have to watch his back in Thor 5, and a battle of the gods may ensue.
There is no cast list for Thor 5 yet, but we can guess Chris Hemsworth will return as Thor. The same goes for Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, and Taika Waititi as Korg (even if it’s a brief appearance).
If that storyline is maintained, India Hemsworth may return as Love, Gorr’s daughter. The post-credits scene indicates that Brett Goldstein will play Hercules, Thor 5’s antagonist. Until something is confirmed, it’s all up in the air. Well, that’s everything we know for now but we’ll keep you updated as news come out.
