We have a new batch of behind-the-scenes photos from Warner Bros. We have a new look at Chris Hemsworth‘s unnamed villainous character in Mad Max: Furiosa. May 24, 2024 will mark the release date of the film.
Director George Miller also confirmed the casting of Quaden Bayles, the young Australian boy who went viral in 2020 after being bullied at school. In addition, Miller revealed that he was the first to invite Bayles to join Three Thousand Years of Longing. “It was good for us and it was good for him,” Miller said. “And he did such a good job that he’s got a small role in Furiosa.”
On the set of Mad Max: Furiosa, the Thor: Love and Thunder actor is once again wearing a long beard and long hair, as well as a nose prosthetic. We also get our first glimpse of his character’s post-apocalyptic outfit.
The film’s synopsis is as follows. “As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus,” “Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”
Described as a standalone story, Furiosa explores the origins of the character previously portrayed by Charlize Theron (The Old Guard) before crossing paths with the eponymous antihero of the mothership franchise. Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit), Chris Hemsworth (Avengers: Endgame), and Tom Burke (Mank) will star in the film. Due to scheduling conflicts, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II left the project.
George Miller wrote and directed the Mad Max prequel, which he is co-producing with Oscar-nominated producer Doug Mitchell. Producing will also be handled by Miller’s Australian-based Kennedy Miller Mitchell banner.
Despite a low box-office performance with a worldwide gross of over $370 million, Mad Max: Fury Road was a critical success, with critics praising its cinematography, production design, and the performances of Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, who both faced difficulty during filming. In addition, it won six Oscars out of ten nominations, including Best Production Design, Best Film Editing, and Best Costume Design.
