According to reports, the new remake of The Crow starring Bill Skarsgard and FKA Twigs has wrapped filming. The Czech Republic capital’s Rudolfinum concert hall, the Jewish Quarter, the Municipal House, and the Main Train Station were among the locations where the remake was filmed after 10 weeks of shooting last week.
The Crow was also reportedly filmed at Penzing Studios outside Munich. Rupert Sanders, who directed Snow White And The Huntsman and Ghost In The Shell, will direct the film. Speaking exclusively to Let’s Talk Movies he stated:
“The Crow is beautiful, dark, poetic, and sometimes disturbing, “It is a story of love, loss, grief, and revenge. It is a great honor to revisit James O’Barr’s iconic comic and reimagine The Crow as a foreboding voice of today.”
Brandon Lee played the lead role in O’Barr’s 1994 film adaptation of his comic series. Although Lee had filmed most of his scenes prior to his death, he was fatally injured on set by a prop gun accident. For his portrayal of Eric Draven, he received posthumous acclaim.
After the original adaptation, three sequels followed – The Crow: City Of Angels in 1996, The Crow: Salvation in 2000, and The Crow: Wicked Prayer in 2005. They were all released to negative reviews, with the latter two being released directly to video.
Many attempts have been made since then to remake The Crow, but none have succeeded. A recent effort was announced in 2017, with Corin Hardy directing and Jason Momoa in the lead role. Both Hardy and Momoa left the project less than a year later.
In the meantime, FKA twigs, Denzel Curry, Marianne Faithfull, and more recently others have joined the Musicians For Palestine pledge, calling on their peers to do the same. We’ll bring you more news about the upcoming remake as it emerges.
