In the trailer, which features newcomer Jabari Banks as Will, we see the Bel-Air series’ first actual footage. Among the regular cast are Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones, and Simone Joy Jones.
Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios and Universal Television are behind the hourlong series based on Morgan Cooper’s popular fan film re-imagining the original series. In September 2020, it received a two-season order. T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson, who worked on The Chi and The 100, are executive producers and co-showrunners.
Morgan Cooper directs, co-writes, and serves as executive producer. A modern-day analogue of the 90’s sitcom, Bel-Air features Will’s one-hour journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will must come to terms with the power of second chances as he navigates the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.
