Despite the fact that James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is filled with jerks, there is one jerk who is the leader of the gang: John Cena’s Peacemaker, a no-nonsense Mack truck of a man who has a ridiculous outfit and an absurdly large gun (and guns, if you know what I mean). He is also starring in HBO Max’s forthcoming Peacemaker, which will be the first TV series spun off from a live-action DC film.
Peacemaker springs back to life in this stand alone story with a new crew of new agents who need his help taking out the bad guys. The setup is pretty much there – and from there, it’s all downhill from there. Peacemaker and his new friend Vigilante are seen hurling bottles at each other in the trailer, as well as a discussion about what a “butt baby” is, as well as a scene where our antihero is given a hug by a bald eagle.
You can watch the epic trailer below.
James Gunn wrote all eight episodes of Peacemaker, and five of those episodes were also directed by James Gunn. There is a sequel and a prequel to last summer’s The Suicide Squad titled Peacemaker. It has been promised that this series will delve into the past of its antihero while also showing what he does after the film has been released. Eastbound and Down director Jody Hill will also be serving as a director on the project in addition to Gunn.
