It came as a bit of a surprise to many including everyone here at Let’s Talk Movies when Netflix announced two new Resident Evil projects, the first being a CGI movie titled Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and the second being a Netflix original series.
7 Horror Movies You Won’t Believe Are Based On True Stories
So far, very little has been revealed, but we do know the majority of the series will take place inside the iconic Spencer mansion. According to reports, a second season of the show has also been greenlit for eight-hour episodes.
Andrew Dabb will write the series (you may recognize him from the hit tv series Supernatural) with Bronwen Hughes serving as executive producer and as the director of the first two episodes, the first being titled “Welcome to New Raccoon City”. Constantin Films, the same team responsible for making the original Resident Evil films starring Milla Jovovich, is producing the show.
Resident Evil Netflix Series, What We Know So Far
There will be two timelines in the story. The first involves fourteen-year-old twins Jade and Billie Wesker (yes, Papa Albert now has two children) who move to the New Raccoon City. In the end, they realize that their father may be hiding dark secrets that will destroy the world. In the second timeline, over a decade in the future, there are only 15 million humans left and over 6 billion animals and people are infected with the T-virus. As Jade, now thirty, tries to survive in this world, the story follows her.
