During a video posted on his YouTube channel, Canadian film reviewer John Campea revealed the details of what happened after he leaked ‘The Spider-Man: No Way Home’ pictures online. John Campea said, “This was no PR stunt…I spoke to a studio representative and he asked me to reveal who sent them to me.” I am not happy with what happened, but I will not reveal who sent it to me. I may not like it, but I won’t give up the source. Everyone knows I get a lot of stuff and pictures sent to me…Last Last Night, I got an email saying, “Oh, this is Spider-Man: No Way Home.”. It’s never real… A friend sends it to me and I look at the pictures with three Spider-Men and I say, “This is very clearly Photoshopped.”…The person who sent it said, “Don’t mention my name,” so I tweeted it and put my watermark on it…There were more pictures, maybe four.”

“So, I decided to post these pictures and a few minutes later, I get a call from someone who says, “Yea, these photos are probably true…”. I was like, ‘Are you sure?’ And like ‘I don’t know 100% for sure, but I’m pretty comfortable saying that these are probably real. I’m like ‘Well s***.’ After only five minutes, I immediately jump back on Twitter again and delete them. Of course, I didn’t share the other two pictures. …And the other two pictures are the more juicy ones, that’s all I can say…When I deleted it, almost nobody had seen it; it had like a hundred likes.”

During my conversation with a studio rep today, they basically told me that they assumed these things were fake because you put your watermark on them. I don’t expect that you would steal the Mona Lisa and leave your business card behind for the police to find you.

In reality, if these pictures end up being real-and I don’t know if they are, to be honest-but if they are, and let’s say Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield do end up being in the movie, and they don’t reveal a trailer soon, I will feel terrible about this,” John concluded.
