Teddy Bear Girl, her real name is Summer, and she’s affectionately known as Teddy Bear Girl by The Walking Dead fans. It was a small girl in pajamas, a bathrobe, and fuzzy slippers that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) killed on screen for the first time. During her stop to pick up her discarded teddy bear, viewers notice her slippered feet shuffle along. Rick shouts out to her, believing she is a little girl, but when she turns, we see a disfigured girl with dead milky eyes.
Rick’s eyes show pain as he knows what he must do. As the walker, played by Addy Miller, falls forward, she dies a second time.
In 2012, The Walking Dead Social Game released the character’s name. Players could have their own adventures and try to survive the apocalypse in this Facebook game. In 2014, it was shut down in order to focus on No Man’s Land.
In a 2021 interview with Fangoria, Miller revealed some fascinating insights about her character.

The First Walker
The first death on screen in “Days Gone By” told viewers this was no ordinary series. Even though it was an undead child, it was still a child. From the beginning, this series set a bold tone. According to Miller’s character description, she had braces, was dead, and was very hungry.

“I saw her as an innocent child who died, and now she’s trying to survive through the afterlife by eating people. I feel bad for her, trying to eat people with braces on! She’s sad and dead.”
Additionally, Miller revealed that she was required to attend Walker School with EP, director, and SFX expert Greg Nicotero. She was ten at the time, and Madison Lintz, who played Sophia, was the only other child who played a walker. Since children couldn’t handle the horror elements of the walkers, no one under 18 was allowed to play these roles.

It took two and a half hours to transform into her walker character, and the clothes were pre-stained. The fact that her character became a Halloween costume made her feel grateful. During her training by stuntman Steven Ritsy, she learned how to fall. When Rick Grimes shot her, she was well-padded under her costume and fell on a mattress. Prior to filming, she shared a funny moment with Lincoln.
Andrew was hilarious; he just walked over and sat beside me, looked over at me, and said ‘I would like to get to know you before I kill you!

The 100th episode
Miller returns as a walker in the 100th episode of the series as a surprise for Nicotero. The addition was kept a secret from even Miller’s mother, who told her to pack for a trip but said it was something significant. Since no other show is as secretive as The Walking Dead, Miller guessed it must be related to it.

Among Miller’s many other roles are Plan 9, Behind You, Dark Places, The Secret Life of Bees, and Waiting for Butterflies.
Next, she will star in Joshua Petrino’s horror film The Devil’s Tree. The cast also includes Nick Principe, Sylvie Preston, Carolina Hidalgo, Bryan Manley Davis, Kate Schlagle, Mark Riccadonna, and Mike Saga.
