VFX studio Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City has shared a collection of terrifying concept art from the film that never made it into the movie.

The visual FX team behind Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City has released some new images showing a number of monster designs that didn’t make it into the final film. In addition to being the seventh live-action film in the Resident Evil franchise, Welcome to Raccoon City serves as both a reboot of the series previously hosted by Mila Jovovich and an adaptation of the hit video game series from Capcom that began in 1996. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was released in 2016 and shortly afterwards Constantin Films announced that a reboot of the series was under development with Aquaman director James Wan set to produce. As of December 2018, however, Wan stopped working on the project in favor of developing the newest Mortal Kombat reboot instead.

A little while back, Applied Arts FX Studio, who worked on bringing the film’s terrifying zombie hordes to life on screen, took to Instagram to share some of their early concept art for monsters that never made it for the final cut of the film. The concept art, which includes both humanoid and more ape-like creatures, also contains what appears to be some early concepts for Lisa Trevor, one of the Umbrella Corporation’s early experiments.
