Kevin Feige Says Spider-Man 4 Is Definitely In Development

We have heard over the last few weeks that the MCU’s Spider-Man 4, 5, and 6 are in development, but not officially, or maybe officially, but then again maybe now. Kevin Feige, the man in the know, confirmed that talks are in progress for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to make his fourth solo film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but they are in very early stages of development. There was a likelihood that this would happen, but having a statement from the Marvel Studios boss is probably the one thing that stops the rumors and questions.

Was Spider-Man: No Way Home Peter Parker’s final act?

Spider-Man: No Way Home has been described as Peter Parker’s Endgame for some time, and after watching the movie it is clear why those comparisons have been made; the film is epic, there is an emotional death of a longstanding character, and it comes with a kind of closure that means the next time Spider-Man appears it will almost be like starting all over again. Therefore, it is easy to understand why some people assumed this could be the end of Tom Holland’s time as Peter Parker. The good news is that it appears there is still a bit left in the tank, a fact Feige was happy to confirm for the sake of fans not worrying about the future of their favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

“Amy and I, Disney, and Sony are talking about – yes, we’re already planning where the story goes next. I only say it outright because I don’t want fans to feel the same separation trauma that Far From Home caused. Feige told the New York Times that this will not happen this time.

Spider-Man: No Way Home producer Amy Pascal mentioned back in November that plans are being made for a new series of films within the MCU featuring Tom Holland’s webslinger. It emerged very quickly, however, that Sony had no active plans or discussions underway and this would seem to contradict everything Pascal had said. However, as Feige pointed out, Marvel fans take seriously the prospect of losing their favorite characters, as was seen after the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019 when for a short time a split in the Sony/Disney dream machine threatened to shut down Spider-Man entirely.

After watching the movie, those who had seen the ending will know that Peter Parker’s slate had been pretty much wiped clean, after making a huge sacrifice and allowing Doctor Strange to cast his spell and erase his memory.

In addition, the mid-credit scenes feature Tom Hardy’s Venom being returned to his own reality after being sucked into the MCU in the post-credit scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. This means there can now be another version of Venom in the MCU, one that will meet up with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Clearly, there is more to come from Spider-Man, but based on the current Marvel schedule, it won’t be for a few years yet.
